Aquinnah Public Library

Library Hours:

Tuesday and Thursday: 2pm – 7pm
Saturday: 10am – 4pm

The Aquinnah Public Library is currently located in a temporary space at 68 State Road in Aquinnah, MA, the Old Town Hall. The temporary library in the Old Town Hall houses approximately 35% of our collection, or about 3500 items. We offer a full range of items including new & popular fiction, non-fiction, DVDs, children’s videos, periodicals and books on disc. We also offer three public computer stations and access to the library’s WiFi service. In addition, the Aquinnah Public Library will acquire books and other items for patrons as requested through an inter-library loan service.
The library’s space, the Red Schoolhouse building at 1 Church Street in Aquinnah, is currently being renovated by the Town of Aquinnah with the assistance of a grant through the Massachusetts Historic Commission.
It is a goal of the Aquinnah Public Library to provide outstanding service to its patrons. Outstanding service means that staff are knowledgeable, courteous, welcoming, friendly and assist patrons in obtaining the materials, information and services they are seeking. We welcome you to the library and we are eager to serve you!

Library Cards:

The Aquinnah Public Library requires you to have a library card in order to borrow items and to use the public computers. It is easy to get a card! Staff will provide you with a short application and you will need a photo I.D and proof of residency (island and/or MA mailing address). Library cards are free for island residents, residents of the State of Massachusetts and island property owners/taxpayers. Non-residents will be charged $1.00 annually.

At the Aquinnah Public Library, we strive to provide a center of information and recreation for the residents of and visitors to The Town of Aquinnah. We maintain a current collection of print and non-print materials. We offer public computers and a wireless access point. With generous sponsorship from the Friends of the Aquinnah Public Library, we are able to host many programs and events all year round.

Library Board of Trustees

The Library Trustees meet regularly, and are responsible for establishing library policy and directing the vision and long range plans of the library for the Town of Aquinnah.


Suggestions, concerns, or comments about library policy and operation should be submitted in writing to the chair of the Library Board of Trustees.
The public is invited to any scheduled meeting of the board.
